For Health Care Providers:
When should I refer a
patient?
Outcomes for chiropractic treatment
are best for patients with acute to
subacute mechanical or myofascial pain in the
cervical, thoracic or lumbosacral regions.
Diagnosis of facet syndrome, myofascial
pain syndromes, whiplash, stable radiculopathy,
lumbar stenosis, costotransverse capsulitis,
sacroiliac joint pain, spinal strain/sprain,
non-specific spinal pain, discogenic low back
pain, and cervical headaches show excellent
response to chiropractic treatment.
Patients with cervical or lumbar intervertebral
disc herniations frequently
respond favorably to chiropractic
management. Treatments generally include
some form of traction (e.g.,
flexion-distraction or long axis traction),
Mackenzie (extension) protocol and other
clinically relevent techniques.
While we focus mostly on non-surgical care of
spinal disorders, patients experiencing
repetitive strain injuries, tendonopathies,
carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet
syndrome, temporomandibular joint pain and
other musculoskeletal disorders also can expect
good responses to care.
Contact us if you
want to discuss a particular patient prior to
referring.
